Thank you so much for such a wonderful trip! I had an amazing time. Cindy you were a great and fun guide full of info...our entire group loved you and you made our day. Thanks too to Ray for the super canoe trip, it was loads of fun. On the Wallaby was also so comfortable and homey...a nice break from town. My only regret is that I never stayed an extra night!! Thanks again

I did this tour back in June and must say it was one of the most memorable days I have ever sent in Australia. Cindy was our tour guide and she is absolutely awesome!!!! She is so knowledgeable, so funny and such great company. I was not a back packer but a retired lady of 6o who spent the day with 10 young back packers whose company was so great. Thank you all for a truly wonderful day, and one that i will never forget!!!!!!!!!!! I never felt like a older lady but one of the gang!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Brad, Paul and On The Wallaby - a great day was had by our Travel for Teens group, despite the c*** weather. Brilliant effort! Here's part of what I wrote to the teens' parents back in the Northern Hemisphere:

"Today we rose early and were picked up by the quirky "cousin Brad" for a tour of the Atherton Tablelands. At first I'm not sure what we all thought of Brad, as he introduced us to the other people in the bus - our new 'family' as he put it. Quickly, we learnt to LOVE Brad - his sense of humor was brilliant! We drove out of Cairns to Brad's quirky/insightful commentary and were having a great time just about immediately. In-fact, Brad woke us up, put smiles on all of our faces and we didn't worry that the weather was overcast, slightly cold and continually drizzling with bits of rain.

Our first stop, the giant Curtain fig tree in Yungaburra, was a simply amazing site to behold! Brad explained how birds had eaten the seeds of the tree, dropped the broken up seeds in their 'compost' in the branches of the tree, and then new plant life had grown. From there, roots had grown downwards from the branches up-top...and in doing so, had wrapped around the original tree, strangling it to death. I can't explain it nearly as well as Brad...whatever...it was awesome!

At our next short rainforest walk, we saw a Red Bellied Black Snake (at safe distance) and a Tree Dragon - most impressive!

We had lunch, swam in a lake that was actually water filled-up inside a volcano(!), saw some of the most amazing waterfalls in Australia (and swam in them), had a great sing-a-long in the bus on the way home and then had some great Mexican food in Cairns city center for dinner. Phew.

I'm pretty sure everyone had a brilliant day. Many thanks need to go to Brad with On The Wallaby - probably one of the best tour guides I have ever had, and the teens certainly came back to the accommodation extremely happy!"

best hostel ever-yes it really is. Been here twice now and both visits were wonderful. Great staff-so friendly and helpful. Love the sheets. It's spotless (even the kitchen)without being sterile. In fact its a really comfy, homey place. The canoe tours are good and yungaburra itself is a lovely little place. Can spend hours down at the creek platypus spotting. Even seen a couple of tree kangaroos there. Will be back soon.

Spectacular place! Paul, Barbara and staff work hard to make everyone's stay a comfortable and special one. Everything was great and I would recommend On the Wallaby to anyone from school groups to middle age travelers!
