On the Wallaby Eco Lodge  

Welcome to our little patch of paradise in the heart of the Atherton Tablelands – beautiful Yungaburra. A quaint historic town, filled with flowerpots by day, and fairy lights by night. We’re a locally owned, cosy, eco-friendly Lodge where all travellers are welcome, shoes are optional and making yourself at home is encouraged.

Spend your days chasing waterfalls, wildlife spotting and wandering through rainforest. From the clear waters of Lake Eacham Volcanic Crater Lake to beautiful Millaa Millaa Falls,  the magnificent 500 year old Curtain Fig Tree or the Mt Hypipamee Crater – there’s plenty to explore. We are your perfect base to wake up early and hit the trails for Nandroya Falls or Windin Falls two of the most stunning waterfalls in all of Queensland. For our twitchers, Hasties Swamp is one of Australia’s best birdwatching destinations, home to over 220 species, complete with a a 2 storey treehouse bird-hide.

In town, wander down to Peterson Creek and try your luck spotting a Tree Kangaroo or Platypus, just 2 mins stroll from the Lodge… at the end of the road is Lake Tinaroo boat ramp, a playground for wakeboarders and anglers alike – and yes, this enormous dam really is stocked with trophy sized (1m+) Barramundi. 

Here, we really are in the heart of it all… 

Back at the Lodge, life moves a little slower. Our lush gardens and fruit trees make a lovely backdrop for an afternoon in a hammock. Pick up a guitar or ukulele, get a board game going, or find a quiet corner with a book. There’s room to come together, and room to do your own thing. Here there are no televisions – it is all about real life connection. We have a indoor fireplace, and backyard firepit under the stars. 

Our team love what they do and you will find their names throughout hundreds of glowing reviews. 

We’re also home to Uncle Brian’s Tours, with their overnight adventurers staying in our main lodge each night. The groups are respectful, well organised and always open to a fresh story, a new face and someone to share a laugh with after a day out exploring. We cook an Aussie style BBQ for them everynight (except Saturdays!) so if you would like to join on, you are more than welcome to – we just need you to book ahead.

We are also home to Australia’s only Night Canoe experience. This is travelling with the Uncle Brian’s group (Backpackers age 18-35ys) for a bit of fun on the water and a chance to spotlight some wildlife. Advance bookings for the Night Canoe cannot be made, and instead are bookable on arrival and are subject to availability.

Come for the nature, settle in for the good food and friendly company, and stay a little longer if you feel like it.
